3 Bed, 2 Bath and a Ghost

A lady found that her recent purchased house is plagued by paranormal activities.

I found out that selling my old house is not so easy as people (especially Chinese) as people are influenced by so many superstitions (‘patang’) and beliefs. For example, across my house is a small TNB (electricity) substation which some people considered as not desirable. I have heard that high voltage pylons are a taboo (a strict ‘no go’) as electromagnetic fields will make the spirits more energetic as they need to manipulate their surroundings.  However for a small TNB substation is too much but maybe its the surroundings that make it so hauntingly creepy.

A Typical Haunted House in Malaysia

This is a true account of Gail Soh who recently bought a 3 bed/2 bath house in Cheras in Kuala Lumpur. She bought it with a 20 per cent off compared to other existing houses in the area. Her property agent told her about the previous tenants were desperate to get rid of the house and there rumours about it being haunted. Gail was not bothered it about and considered it as foolish stories made by people who were did not know better. 

Shortly after Gail moved in, there were numerous strange and unexplained incidents that occurred at that house. She would be asleep and nightmares (about her dead relatives), sleep paralysis , feeling of sadness and deep depression would happen almost every night.

There were times when the volume of her TV was turn to either high or low or the channels were changed or flipped continuously. The lights in her bathroom were turn or off and even the taps in the kitchen were also turned on. When she was in the living room watching TV, she could clearly here footsteps in the bedrooms where no-body was around.

Nancy lives in Sandakan with her family and she really believes that her house is actually haunted.

The city of Sandakan is the second largest city in Sabah, Malaysia. Sandakan was the former capital of the British North Borneo during the British colonial era. After the second WWII, Sandakan shifted to Kota Kinabalu as the capital of the state. It was also well-known for the notorious killing of innocent people during the Japanese occupation during WWII.

11 year old, Nancy lived with her parents in Sandakan with her youngest sister, Rudy, in a rented house.

Nancy must have heard a million times, as her mother said wearily to 6 year old Rudy, “Why you so naughty?” To Nancy thinking, Rudy was a real pain in the ass – always mischievous, naughty and she will bug out everyone, especially Nancy.

Anyway, Nancy was in her room (which she shares with Rudy) playing her computer game when she notice someone looking behind her back. She groaned as she thought it must be Rudy as she yell, “Ooui! what you want?” After a few minutes, Nancy finally turned her head to look behind her…but Rudy was not around.

It was a bit strange and after a while Nancy got off a chair and went to look for her sister. When she found Rudy alone in her parents’ room, Rudy was happily asleep with her thumb in her mouth. Nancy found it a bit odd as she was sure she saw someone beside her in their room.

Girl finds strange and spooky occurrences at her relatives’ house.

Almost every school holidays Malliga will visit with her uncle, aunty and her cousins at their home at Taman Seafield at Subang Jaya. Her relatives stay at a corner lot of a double storey link house in this residential area.

During that time, Malliga and her relatives had heard or even seen numerous encounters of spooky or unexplained incidents.

For example, Mallinga herself saw a black figure dash into her cousin’s bedroom and thinking it was her cousin brother, she rushed into the bedroom and…there was nobody there! She has also heard from Kavita, who is 9 years old, the same age as Malliga, she has personally witnessed a grey apparition in the kitchen.

The most eerie encounter was told by her relatives. When Shanti, who is Malliga’s eldest cousin was still living there, her favourite toy was Kermit the Frog (from the Muppet show, I think). Since Shanti was now taking a nursing professional course in another state, Kermit the Frog was placed on top of a bedroom cupboard.

There were several times, when Malliga’s aunty found the toy of Kermit the Frog happily sitting the sofa in the Living Room downstairs with the TV on! The kids adamantly denied they had anything to do with him but were equally shocked and puzzled about that.

Mallinga’s aunty finally donated the Kermit the Frog to some charity bazaar (wondered did they witnessed any weird or eerie incidents).

It was a really tough year for Desmond who had lost in father in 1998 and had to move to a new house which was haunted.

Desmond Kong was only 16 years when his father passed away due to a car accident, leaving his mother, younger sister and grandmother (his father’s mother) to carry on. The insurance left by his father were hardly adequate for the family and his mother had to rent a cheaper house for the whole to family to live in.

Since moving to the new rented house, there were numerous incidents of eerie and strange happenings. Out of the many incidents, the 3 most spooky and mysterious encounters are:

1^st Incident

Late at night when Desmond’s grandmother had to go to the toilet to pee. Upon coming back to the bedroom she shared with her granddaughter, when she saw that the bed was slowly floating. Her granddaughter was on the mattress swaying gently, was fast and soundly asleep.  His grandmother was not too bothered as she had these things before when she was a young girl living in rural countryside in Melaka.

2^nd Incident

His mother was in the house in the afternoon when she heard a loud Thud! sound. She rushed to the kitchen she saw blood spattered on the floor. When her daughter hurried to her mother’s side she found the kitchen floor neat and span.

Some people believe that those who possess the “Third Eye” can see the supernatural or spirit world.

They however heard from their neighbours that the previous tenant was a drunkard when he committed suicide in that house. He was a violent man especially when he drank and he would savagely beat his wife and children.

3^rd Incident

Desmond’s mother decided to move to another place for the sake of the children. On the day of the move, they found an old rag doll at the top entrance of their front door. The family had to walk underneath the rag doll at the top of the door to get outside of that house. Desmond’s heart was furiously pounding when he walk through the front door.

Over time the family had improved tremendously, although Desmond’s grandmother has passed away. Desmond is successful stock broker and is married with 3 kids and stays with his mother. Her sister is in a local University in Pahang and comes back regularly.
