The Ghost Festival is a traditional Chinese or Taoist festival celebrated on the 15th night of the seventh lunar month. The 15th day of the seventh lunar month is called is known as “Ghost Month.” Many people believe that during that month the sector are Heaven, Hell and the Earth and restless ghosts will freely roam the earth.

Ghost Festival rituals of joss sticks, incense, paper money, prepared food, wine and tea are offered to these temporary ‘guests’. One of the main highlights of the festival is the Chinese operas, usually held on temporary bamboo stages, to appease the wandering spirits from the otherworld.

Another Incident in Genting’s Parking Lot

“Go to Genting…sumore of at night…Go lah…” Adrian Soon’s mother was absolutely furious when she heard of Adrian’s intention of going to gamble at Genting.

Adrian is from Bera in the state of Pahang and his friends, Tony & Jim, was determined and planned to spend the night at the casino no matter what. They were more or less hardcore gambling addicts (..”kaki judi”) and were going to win big from the casino.


However after spending 5 hours at the casino, they left gloomy and dejected having lost all their money. As they walking to the parking lot in the middle of the night, the mist and fog were swirling from the surrounding area when Jim noticed a blurry dark person going into their car!

His friends have already got in the car and Jim did not have any choice but got into the front passenger seat. Sensing something was wrong Jim then said, “Can we talk a little bit before going back?”
Tony was glum but he agreed but Adrian was very angry and said angrily to Jim, “shaddap lah what to f##king talk…#!?...don’t play play lah” Jim tried to calm him down saying, “Can talk or not…” Finally Adrian managed to cool down and the three of them had a short casual talk.

Two different strange tales of incidents during night driving in Genting Sempah in Genting, Selangor.

Many eerie stories from the mainstream media and especially in the cyber world have been said about said about driving in Genting Sempah and some say that it is infested and overwhelm by dark spirits and ghosts.
Genting Sempah is basically a transit town between the states of Pahang and Selangor. However, Genting Sempah is also the transit point to the infamous Genting Highlands.

The first tale is about Mrs Chan who is a devout follower of the Taoist religion. Mrs Chan and her group had invited a Taoist priest from Sitiawan to a retreat in Genting Highlands. On the way when they reached Genting Sempah at night, the 70 year old Taoist priest suddenly look distraught and demanded that turn around the van and head back for Kuala Lumpur. The highly agitated priest said that there are numerous spirits roaming around that place – there were too much Yin energies. Yin energy can be describe as feminine energy but can also mean nighttime, or evil and dark forces. They drove back to Kuala Lumpur.
