I have written about “Genting Bus Crash during Hungry Festival” which left 39 people killed and 16 dead. The privately owned road by Genting Malaysia Berhad, was a scene of tragic and unimaginable devastation. In my article, it was reported that some passengers had seen a group of wavy apparitions waiting at the roadside before the accident.

Some people believe that the souls were waiting to be reincarnated by taking the lives of the people in that tragic accident. Some Chinese also believe that it happened during the Hungry Ghosts Festival where millions of lost souls were released and on the prowl for potential victims.

The worst motor accident in Malaysia’s history happened during the Hungry Ghosts Festival. Were the supernatural souls from the afterworld involved?

“37 killed, 16 injured in Malaysia’s worst accident,” as reported by the mainstream and the internet media. The ill-fated bus was on the Genting up-downhill road on the privately owned by Genting Malaysia Berhad.

The Genting Sempah road is infamous for a string of mysterious incidents  and I have written about it previously in “Apparitions at Genting Sempah-Genting Highlands Highway” and “Ghost Sightings at Genting Sempah, Selangor”.

In addition the bus crash occurred during Hungry Ghosts Month which falls on August 7 and September 4. Taoists believe that the ghosts are opened from hell where the souls can roam the earth for a month.

Qing Ming (or commonly named Ghost Festival) is the time where the deceased or the departed are given one month’s permission to visit our world.

Qing Ming to Taoism and Buddhism followers is to revere or admire one’s departed families and relatives that live in this world. It is also an opportunity to visit the graveyards even sweep their tombstones as a mark of respect. The followers bring food, drinks and joss sticks to pray to graveyards. They also offer paper money, houses, suits, mobile phones and even a paper maid!

However Qing Ming or Ghost Festival as the name implies have its share of ghostly stories, I will relate two spooky tales that happened during the festival.

1^st story

This happened in a seafood restaurant in Port Klang during the Qing Ming month as told by Steven Yap. Steven was told by his mother to be back early after work especially during that month but he did not really believe in such stories. 

He and his office colleagues had a celebration one night when one of his workmates received a healthy commission for a project. After work they went to a seafood restaurant to celebrate with food and drinks.

Half way during dinner, Steven had to go the restroom which was separately located adjacent to the restaurant. The male toilet was dark and muddy and the lights were not working well as they were flickering on and off. When he was done, he went to the row of basins to wash his hand when the lights went off. He was quickly drying his hands when he realised from the mirror that someone was in the toilet.

Two different strange tales of incidents during night driving in Genting Sempah in Genting, Selangor.

Many eerie stories from the mainstream media and especially in the cyber world have been said about said about driving in Genting Sempah and some say that it is infested and overwhelm by dark spirits and ghosts.

Genting Sempah is basically a transit town between the states of Pahang and Selangor. However, Genting Sempah is also the transit point to the infamous Genting Highlands.

The first tale is about Mrs Chan who is a devout follower of the Taoist religion. Mrs Chan and her group had invited a Taoist priest from Sitiawan to a retreat in Genting Highlands. On the way when they reached Genting Sempah at night, the 70 year old Taoist priest suddenly look distraught and demanded that turn around the van and head back for Kuala Lumpur. The highly agitated priest said that there are numerous spirits roaming around that place – there were too much Yin energies. Yin energy can be describe as feminine energy but can also mean nighttime, or evil and dark forces. They drove back to Kuala Lumpur.

Amber Court has been considered by many as the most haunted place in Malaysia. There are cases that many people had died there as a result of freak accidents or suicides. It is also one of the favorite spots for “ghost hunting” enthusiasts in the country.

Marie works in a restaurant assistant in Genting Highlands. She is presently working the night shift and she goes back to her hostel when the shift is over. Every day seems like a repeat of yesterday and they have to go to the grind of life. At least she got a good job except it is a bit monotonous at times.
